IIF Staff Spotlight: Kristin Ignozzi

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. I came to Chicago in 2010 to attend Loyola University Chicago, where I am currently a senior. I am very excited to be graduating in May 2014 with a B.B.A. in Sport Management and a minor in Marketing. Currently, I am the Events Coordinator at the Israel Idonije Foundation as well as being a part of the Chicago Bears Events and Entertainment Team and serving as a Student Marketing Manager for Loyola University Chicago Water Tower Campus Life. In my free time I really enjoy staying active and being outdoors or exploring new restaurants in Chicago!

How long have you been working for IIF?

I have been with IIF since January 2013 when I started as a Communications Intern. I was then promoted to Events Coordinator in May 2013.

What has been your favorite event?

My favorite event so far was our July 11 fundraiser where we were able to give our profound thanks to major donors and supporters for their years of support. We had such amazing group of attendees who really made the evening something special - attendees in the room already had an existing relationship with IIF, which stimulated conversation amongst them on how to further the work of IIF. It was a remarkable feeling to see how much our supporters believe in us.

What is the best thing about being apart of Team IIF?

The best thing about being apart of Team IIF is our Team. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be surrounded by and learn from such inspiring individuals who are thought-leaders career wise and in philanthropic efforts day-in and day-out. This experience has been more than I ever could have imagined it to be and that is because of the passion and energy our Team has in carrying out the mission of IIF to impact our next generation of youth. I am so grateful to be working with truly exceptional individuals.

Can you share a story of working with program participants that reminded you why you love your job?

My best memory in working with IIF program participants is related to our Summer Youth Leadership Program. Three very bright students interviewed for an internship position here at IIF. With nerves and adrenaline running high, we had them all sitting in the same room, patiently waiting to hear whether or not they got the position. Our entire staff walked into the room with them where our CEO announced that all three of them got the internship position. To see their faces light up with relief and excitement was a fantastic moment to experience. It was the beginning of a very transformative and enlightening summer for these young students, and I couldn’t be more thankful to have had the opportunity to be apart of an experience that they will never forget.

As a staff member, what would you say to IIF's donors and supporters?

To all of our donors and supporters, I cannot express in words the amount gratitude I have for your continuous support and participation in IIF. The work we do and the lives we are able to impact would not be possible without your support because TOGETHER WE SUCCEED. “We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the course of history.” - Sonia Johnson

Thank you, IIF supporters!

What are you looking forward to most in 2014?

In 2014, I am most looking forward to revamping IIF programs and beginning new ventures. Our Africa Program has taken a new direction with outstanding partners in Change Heroes and Free the Children. I am very excited to see how we can maximize this partnership opportunity and grow our sustainable efforts in West Africa.
