Donor Spotlight: Caree Martens

Caree Martens has been a donor and volunteer for the Israel Idonije Foundation for several years. Team IIF is so grateful for her continued support. She offered these responses when reflecting on her decision to support IIF.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I grew up in the north suburbs and now live in Wicker Park. I went to undergrad in Minnesota and graduate school in Chicago. I am an Facilities/Office Manager for a large insurance company in the Loop.

How did you first hear about the Israel Idonije Foundation?

I learned about IIF through International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and long time IIF supporter Marie Coffee. I was on the executive board of IFMA and Marie brought IIF to the board to get interest in supporting IIF.

There are a lot of great causes to support, what made you select the Israel Idonije Foundation as a cause you believe in?

The first time I heard Izzy speak about his foundation, you can instantly tell how passionate he is about the cause. He truly believes in the kids of Chicago and his enthusiasm and passion is contagious. I volunteered for Shop with a Cop and knew I had to support IIF in anyway I could.

How have you seen your donation make an impact?

The kids are proof that my donations make an impact. Their smiles and pure joy are all the reason to continue to support IIF.

What would you say to others to encourage them to support the Israel Idonije Foundation?

How can they not support such an amazing cause?? Just seeing the kids and being around them is enough of a reason. I have volunteered for the Shop with a Cop and the June football camp several times and each and every time, I feel that the kids are giving me something when I leave. Their smiles are reason enough to support IIF. Izzy has created an amazing foundation to support the kids. He is a true role model for so many and he is so warm, kind and an inspiration to the kids!
